{Pretty, Happy, Funny, Real}

Our summer garden is planted and thriving! Landscaping and yard work have never been my most favorite activities in the world, but I always feel a thrill of excitement when we get some tomatoes, basil, and green beans in the ground. We planted a few weeks ago, but Jonathan finished the tomato trellis – a new experiment for this year, based on some internet research – this past weekend. Isn’t it pretty?
Also, in the “pretty” category: fresh strawberries from the farmers’ market. I love summer. (Well, I’m not a huge fan of the heat, but man, is the eating good.)
{Happy}
We put in a small lawn a few weeks ago, and this past week, it was established enough for us to enjoy it. Babies in sun-hats on green grass – what could be happier? I’m looking forward to having a more usable and welcoming space for play and for company this summer.

Abby is so close to crawling. So close. I’ve been trying to give her some extra motivation, which is typically met with less resistance than is shown in this photo.
Fortunately for my poor, sad, girl, her sister was there to save the day.
Proof that sisters are, in fact, better to have around than mothers.

This week marked a large milestone for my Katie-girl: the relinquishing of her beloved pacifier. We really let her keep the thing longer than we should have, and she had become quite attached, so we used a method of extraction that one of my friends posted on Facebook a few years back: we went to a toy store, where Katie “traded” her pacifier for a big-girl toy of her choice.
She chose a huge bubble wand, which, if the first foray was any indication, will provide hours of fun.
(We aren’t quite out of the woods yet with the pacifier-withdrawal: there have been some tears, and the need for some additional snuggling the past few days, but we’re getting there! Growing up is not easy.)
Those are the {pretty, happy, funny, real} moments around here this week. How about you? Share in the comments!
Love the picture sequence where you are trying to tempt Abby to crawl. So cute! We have never tried that method with tomatoes, but I think it looks like a neat system! I hope you’ll report back on how it works.
